Principle
Responsibilities:
JOB MISSION: ESTABLISHING AND GROWING CHEMICALS
DISTRIBUTION BUSINESS IN SOUTH AFRICA
- Manage/Supervise: Gradually build up a team of local professionals who shall report to him.
- Based on his market knowledge/experience and after scanning of the South African market, identify various chemicals in the designated application segments which could have potential for local stock and sales.
- Carry out detailed market mapping for the identified products to work out customer wise potential, including current / potential competition.
- Make a viable business plan for the overall chemical product portfolio that is proposed to be traded ex local warehouse in SA and work towards its effective implementation. He shall have to assume full responsibility of the Chemical business
- Spearhead establishment and expansion of the sales operations of both commodity and specialty Industrial chemicals in SA, spread across application segments and products.
- Manage the Chemicals business as a profit centre head, by going into the various cost elements of the imported duty paid landed prices (like duties, taxes, transportation costs, warehousing , credit costs etc) and generation of agreed gross margins for the product portfolio , thereby resulting into budgeted net profit figures.
- Track local competition across the country and devise proactive strategies of countering the same.
- Supervise and coordinate warehousing operations like stocking, movement of goods, import, planning, clearance, transportation etc.
- Keeping track of sundry debtors and manage timely collection of payments
Educational
Qualifications:
- Science background (Graduate/Post Graduate in Chemistry), B Tech - Chemical Engineering, etc.
Knowledge
and Experience:
- Work Experience: About 12-15 years of relevant work experience in Business development of Chemicals in South Africa, in a trading and distribution environment. Local Industry, chemical exp. Sales Representative.
- Desired chemical industries working: Home Care/Personal Care /Food and Nutrition/Agrochemicals etc. in the specialties/fine Chemicals domain shall be useful.
- Handle of local sales stock, depot operations, geographical area operations (Like Branch, Region, etc.) shall be a distinct advantage
