Candidate will responsible for leading and managing the heavy earth moving machinery (HEMM) operations and maintenance functions across assigned mining or industrial projects

The role focuses on ensuring high fleet availability, preventive maintenance discipline, operational efficiency, and cost optimization while maintaining strict adherence to safety and environmental standards. The AVP acts as a key technical and managerial support to the General Manager/Business Head in implementing the HEMM strategy and achieving site production targets.

Reducing unplanned breakdowns through robust preventive and predictive maintenance

General Manager – Mining - Open Cast Copper Mining (Central Africa)

 


Hiring for *General Manager – Mining* for a leading *Copper Processing Unit* based in *Central Africa*

Experience: 15+ years

Qualification: Bachelor’s/Master’s in Mining Engineering; Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency

·         *Candidate must have experience from Open Cast Copper Mining ONLY*

·         Candidate will be mining will be responsible for *end-to-end management of the mining operations*, ensuring that *production targets* are met in a safe, efficient, and *cost-effective manner*. The incumbent will lead a multidisciplinary team and be accountable for operational planning, execution, cost management, compliance, and stakeholder coordination.
Operational Management *(Oversee day-to-day mining operations (drilling, blasting, hauling, loading*, etc., Develop and execute monthly, quarterly, and annual mine plans.
Ensure optimal utilization of manpower, equipment, and resources.)

·         *Production & Planning* (Achieve targeted production volumes within budgeted costs and Coordinate with mine planning and geology teams for grade control and pit optimization)

·         *Safety, Health & Environment (SHE)* (Ensure strict adherence to statutory safety norms and environmental regulations, Promote a safety-first culture and lead incident investigations when necessary)

·         Regulatory Compliance (Ensure all mining operations comply with DGMS and other regulatory authorities and Maintain updated documentation for audits, licenses, and inspections)

·         *Cost & Budget Control* (Monitor operational costs and implement cost-saving initiatives, Prepare and manage annual budgets and forecasts, Team Leadership and Lead, mentor, and develop the mining team.

·         *Stakeholder Coordination* (Liaise with government bodies, contractors, and local communities and Ensure smooth coordination with internal departments (maintenance, logistics, HR, etc.))

·         *Production Achievement* Meeting planned monthly and annual production volumes ≥ 95% of target Cost per Ton Mined Efficiency in controlling operational costs within budget.

·         Safety Performance Number of Lost Time Injuries (LTI), incident reports Zero LTI, regular safety audits Equipment Utilization Effective use of HEMM and other equipment ≥ 85% utilization

·         *Regulatory Compliance Adherence to all mining laws and DGMS guidelines*

·         *Manpower Productivity Output per employee Improve YoY*

·         *Downtime Management Minimize unplanned equipment and operational downtimes*
