Hiring for Research Analyst – Metals (Commodity) for a leading metal
and mining group based in Mumbai

Education: Bachelor’s degree - Economics / Finance / Engineering /
Mathematics / Statistics and / or Related quantitative or numerical disciplines
· Must
have experience in metals research, commodities trading support, or market
analysis is preferred. Analytical and research experience gained within
relevant environments (e.g. metals trading / production house, commodity hedge
fund, investment banks’ commodities desk, KPOs supporting metals research
efforts of global service providers or the metals domain of rating agencies or
research firms) will be considered as relevant experience

Demonstrable
experience in analysing Copper will be strongly preferred with at least some
exposure to other base and/or precious metals
·
Develop and maintain near-term and
medium-term price outlooks for Base metals (Copper, Tin, Nickel, Zinc, Lead, and
Aluminum) and precious metals (Gold, Silver, Palladium, and Platinum). While
primary and regular coverage is envisaged with respect to Copper, Tin, Nickel,
Gold and Silver, opportunistic and episodically coverage of the other metals
will be warranted from time to time

Experience
of direct interaction with trading, hedging, or risk management functions is
strongly preferred
·
Monitor and interpret physical
market indicators, including - global exchange inventories (LME, COMEX, SHFE)
and off-exchange stocks, bonded warehouse movements as well as physical premia,
treatment & refining charges, freight and arbitrage flows
·
Strong
understanding of - Global metals supply chains, Exchange-traded derivatives
(futures, options) and dealing structures
·
Proficiency
in quantitative and analytical tools.
·
Exposure
to hedging programs for producers, consumers, or trading entities
·
Familiarity
with ESG, decarbonisation, and energy-transition themes as they relate to
metals demand
·
Conduct ongoing macroeconomic
analysis relevant to base and precious metals, including: Global growth
indicators, inflation, interest rates, FX (USD dynamics), and geopolitical developments
·
Analyze fundamental supply–demand
dynamics across non-ferrous and precious metals, with particular focus on
relevant drivers such as - mine production, smelting/refining capacity,
·
Perform technical analysis to
support hedging and trading strategies with robust ideation in terms of deal structures
and execution strategies with relevant execution plan
·
Produce regular market commentary
and ad-hoc event analysis covering macro data releases
·
Experience
working with both paper markets and physical market indicators (not purely
macro or equities research) will be an added advantage
